Black Hole Feedback Enriches the Circumgalactic Medium

How does the host galaxy’s super massive black hole impact the movement of gas into the circumgalactic medium?

Led by UW graduate student Nicole Sanchez, we found that the galaxy’s black hole drives highly metal-enriched material out into its host galaxy’s halo, which in turn elevates the observed column densities of O VI in the CGM.
