spectral phenomena to understand our origins
In a dynamic universe, how do galaxies (like our own Milky Way Galaxy) sustain the formation of new stars over billions of years? Most of the normal matter in the universe lives in the vast, dark spaces between stars and galaxies, and is not easily visible. The Werk SQuAD is dedicated to studying this material to better understand it, so that we can ultimately understand our own cosmic origins over the billions of years of the life of the universe.
“What's in your QSO spectrum?”

What we’re working on
For us, the universe revolves around our students
In our SQuAD, the search for answers in the vast expanse of the universe is first and foremost student powered. In other words: driven by the curiosity, passion, and unique vision of our students. We support each other’s work, and challenge each other to be the best versions of ourselves.
